Course summary The degree is centered on the study of young children's holistic development and well-being from birth to eight years, set within the contexts of family, school, early years settings and the wider environment; created in a response to developments in research and government policy, this course draws on a number of disciplines to produce graduates who can facilitiate and support the well-being of young children; the underlying principles and theories of philosophy, psychology, sociology, pedagogy, health and social policy are applied to early childhood; this is not a vocational degree but students will gain the knowedge and skills to enable them to take up a range of roles within an early years environment.
